Trademan's Day

It's that time of year again.

Time for the Service Industry and Trades to hang up the aprons and put away the steel toed boots because this Monday is Tradesman's Day!

The first Monday is August is a holiday that is meant to give the working people a long weekend. Restaurants close, clubs and people do things like go camping and have party's out of town.

The Monday is a paid day and a lot of people take the Friday before off as well.

So Davíð is on 4 days off, and it is great. The weather is crap, but the time to relax is still great.

An official explanation from ísland.is

'Verslunarmannahelgi . - During the first weekend in August, Icelanders by the thousands take to their cars and head out of town to camp in the wilderness or join in one of the many organized events that are held throughout the country. These range from family-style gatherings to outdoor rock festivals.'
