A few weeks of photos, in random order

A game of RISK with a few Spanish Couchsurfers
The dinner these nice boys cooked for us, it looked like potato and onion omelette's, but they called it tortilla.
Flipping the tortilla.
Ulfrun, Amelia and Leópold playing dolls.
Rósa, very proud of her new found stick.
Rósa playing fetch with the big stick.
An anchor on rocks, the Icelandic art equivalent of kittens in America.
For the Americans it was a church, the Icelanders use it as a school.
Kasper, Stefán and Jack in the distance. South coast of Iceland.
A large family, including many from Canada, get together for dinner.
We all went out for a long drive (several hours) to get the best of the best lobster in Iceland.
Leópold and his 2 year old second cousin Alice, side by side.
And last but not least, I finally saw Icelands largest prison in person. We were actually admiring the beautiful town beside it and realized that housing might be cheap here.

Ashy Ashy

This is probably the most common picture from the volcano ash situation in Iceland, and I wanted to upload it earlier but I couldn't and it took forever to figure out why.
Blogger says I used up all my free space and now Ill have to pay 5.00 a year.
Small price really, and now I have a lot of pictures to upload!

Sleeping over

On Thursday the boys had there first sleep over in our new house.

There cousin Garpur was staying with Stefán and Kasper friend was staying with him.

We all went to bed around ten and when I woke up at midnight everyone else was still awake.

So I put Stefán in our room and sent the other kid home. Then they fell asleep.

I had to get everyone up in the morning to catch the bus to Reykjavík and were they ever tired!

I would like to think they learned a lesson, but I doubt it.

Maybe I learned a lesson, no sleep overs when we have to get up in the morning, or maybe I should start trying to get them to bed at about six?

Either way, maybe this is one of those things we all need practice at.

These pictures are the boys climbing on some strange statue in front of Keiler, on our way to the bus. Some cool wooden guy with a guitar.... I bet he gets climbed on a lot.

A bucket of dogs, among other things

My first day unemployed! Three cheers for me.

We started renovating the living room last night, starting with the radiators (old heating systems), they had to go.
I am so proud of Davíð for unhooking them himself - we don't need no stinking plumber! But I must admit the place is a mess, water, carbon and holes in the walls.
It is hard to believe now but it will get better!

Kasper got an ear infection, just in time for me to not have to take a sick day from work, selfish I know.

I emptied out the storage room and now have half of it reorganized, the other half I will do later tonight or tomorrow, I have not decided yet.

Kasper's friends, Gunnar's mom, Magga (got that) came over today with Gunnar to play. She showed my her pictures online. I like them, so I piked my favorites.

I like it.

This giant puppet was from last year.

similar to the view out on new years

I just do not know what has happened here...

Does this count as art?

Just when I thought my neighborhood could not get any better.
Just when I thought it was truly oozing with class.
Someone spray painted the no entry sign, that is practically in my back yard.
Now it is labeled Penis.
Absolutely Fabulous.
Well this saves me the trouble.
Now everyone knows the true meaning of the sign.
I am so excited for the next genius to roam by armed with a can of spray paint.
Now honestly, like the red glow coming from our building was not enough?
Next time someone needs directions to my house:
Do you know where the penis sign is?

Friday

Every Friday starts out the same in Kasper's school.
The parents all bring the kids to school, just like any other day, but on Fridays they stay.
This is because every Friday morning, the kids sing for us!

So here is Kasper sitting up front, with the camouflage hat on.

This is some big kite hanging from the ceiling.

A bowl of roses. I was a little upset with these roses because I am sure they are very expensive and I hope the 17000 a month we pay for Kasper to go to school is not all going to flowers....
OK, that sounded a little bitter, I am very happy with the school, I just question the spending sometimes.

And this is the school he goes to.

This is the boat thing my chair was next to, I could not see very much thanks to this boat.

So I took pictures of it, and the little fishing guys in it.

Here is a blurry Kasper hopping around and looking a little like a terrorist in the hat thing.

Better then I could get

The church (Hallgrímskirkja cathedral) here is only a few blocks from my house and it plays bells super loud every half an hour and the Viking ship is down by the harbor (the boys always want to play on it)

Play

I took Stefan to a little government funded play that is put on somewhere in the city, usually at playgrounds, everyday in the summer.
It is super cute.
Today they did a good one, based on the book where a mole finds out that some animal pooed on his head. He goes around talking to all the other animals to find out who did it. Each animal poos on the ground to show it was not him because his looks like this- total toddler humour. All the kids were in stitches laughing.
This travelling show has been around forever. Davíð remembers it from when he was a boy, with very much fondness.
