Or at least prepare a snack. His amazing patience pays off as he spends 20 minutes peeling an orange then slicing it with a butter knife. He is very proud of himself!

A Holiday
I can not remember what it is called, but it does not matter. I would not know how to spell it.
Everyone eats sheep heads and shark and other sheep bits we will not mention.
I do not know if it is part of the tradition, but Davið has been drinking a lot.
It sounds gross but fun and I hope to try it out next year.

Always Changes
Everything seems up in the air and everyday there seems to be something that could change it all. Just thinking about it makes me tired.
1. The banks just came out with this strange idea on how to make Internet banking more secure. Everyone was sent this thing in the mail, it looks like a little pager or something on a key chain. When you press a button on it, a number shows up and I guess you need that number for your Internet banking. I do not know if it always changes, or if the bank kept track of who got each pager thing. In fact I know almost nothing about them and it is not like the instructions were in English. I have some Polish friends that thought they were junk mail and gave it to Stefan to play with.
2. Innes, the job I hate, if showing a better side. I now get some free stuff. Yesterday I got a huge tin of hot chocolate because the label got recked during transport. The women in the kitchen who was making my life miserable, is not super nice to me and makes sure that I have lunch with them. She is also looking into having me get a job for just Innes in Shipping and Receiving. They have full time work, overtime if you want it, and it starts at 1,000 an hour for day time work. This is good. I am thinking about it. This women, the only one in Shipping, threw a tantrum and started yelling at me on Monday. I am proud of myself, I held my ground. She yelled and said she would be calling my boss. That is OK. I called my boss as soon as I left the office, she said this women is crazy and calls to complain at least once a week, no mater who is cleaning.
3. Davið might quit his job. He is thinking about it. Maybe there is something better for him to do. It would only be for a while because he plans to start school in September.
4. I changed and extended Stefan's play school hours. It is not that I do not want to see him, I am just so crunched for time I had no choice. I have also learned what a hassle the buses here are and as it was (7 hours a day) I had no time. If I missed one bus, it messed up the whole day. No he is paid for 8 hours a day. I will most likely get him after 7, but at least if we sleep in a little or I miss a bus, it is not the end of the world.
5. Kasper is a big boy now and walks home from School alone! We are so proud. This makes life a little more easy for me.
6. We promised Kasper a television and PlayStation as soon as he learned to read. (We were going to get one at Christmas but were worried it would delay the reading more). So, Kasper basically learned to read in 2 days. It is amazing. He can only read smaller words in Icelandic but I think it is a real accomplishment, and he deserves a PlayStation. I also really think this will help his Icelandic come along much faster.
Well, that is all I can think of for now.

New Template
I decided to change my template and colors again.
This might seem a little ADD, because I do it all the time, but I think this one looks better.
Maybe even more mature.

New Ugly Couch
BEFORE:
AFTER:
I have talked about my ugly couch before. You know, the one from Ikea, it is grey and shaped strange and always looks dirty.
Anyways, I think I found a solution.
I put a sheet on it! And pillow cases! Just like you see in movies in dead peoples houses! Except I do not have any white sheets, so it is blue.
I like it!

MSN
I had Google talk, but no one has Google accounts. So today I finally gave in and downloaded MSN messenger.
I had always hoped it would not come to this.
Yahoo was so good! Google is OK. Why does everyone have to use MSN.
Anyways my account is:
kraftd8@hotmail.com

What do I know?
Apparently nothing about airplanes.

I am sorry, you have failed my test. If your head is in the clouds and your imagination is flying, it is clearly not on the same altitude or traffic patterns as airplanes. If you open your eyes next time your in the airport and pay some attention to what is going on next to you, you will be able to do much better next time you take my test! |
My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

BATHROOMS!
I know it is gross. I am lucky and have not had to use one yet. This is what they have so no one needs to ask to use restaurant toilets. Maybe Mei would like to set one up outside the restaurant for all the people that come to only use the bathrooms. And she could make some money. This one is at the bus station.
The WC stands for water closet. I guess it is supposed to be English but I did not know what all the WC signs were for when I moved here, and I speak English.

Future Designers
I got out a few old sheets that do not fit any beds we have and a few dish towels that have seen better days and the boys went to work. Stefan needed a lot of help but wanted to make himself into Superman, as a pirate. Kasper is very good at making outfits for his stuffed animals. Kasper is a little hard on himself though and is not always happy with the fit.
Down with a flu
There a few things that I should have done the last few days, and all I have done is sleep.
My only excuse is that I have been really sick with a flu. The worst is over now and things should be back to normal tomorrow or the day after.

Why we do not want the news papers.
This is not a month's worth of papers. Or even a weeks. It is three days. This is what happens when you have 6 apartments getting up to three free newspapers a day delivered to the door. No one reads them. Every once and a while we fill up the car to take them to be recycled.
Davið really needs to get at canceling these things.
Lots of Snow
The last few days have brought buckets of snow. So I bought the kids some sleds.
Although it is not cold, aside from winter tires, no one is prepared for snow. It is everywhere, I would guess this happens every year, but no one has a window scrapper or snow brush. I have seen everything from sleeves to empty pizza box's being used to try and clear the snow off or cars.
If you look closely you can see where Stefan's bike is buried.
Agata
My babysitter completely avoided me so at 10:30 last night I realized I would have no one to watch Stefan today while I was at work.
Kasper had his first sleep over at a friends house, he is getting so big!
I had to work 7-3. I took Stefan to work with me and Agata came and picked him up at 9 and brought him home and with her boyfriend waited for me to finish work.
(It is nice that I have the option of bringing my kids to work with me)
So here is the funny part: Agata has never been in my house before. I had explained which apartment I lived in and gave her the keys. She took Stefan there, went in the building and down the stairs like I had told her. Then when they were on the main floor she asked Stefan which one was his house. (Individual apartments withing a building do not have there own numbers here, even the mail is all just thrown in together and we sort it out). Stefan pointed at a door. Agata gets the keys and tries to open it. It does not work. She tries the other keys while shaking the doorknob and thinking the lock is broken. Stefan just stands there. Then Gisli mt neighbour answers the door, half asleep and wanting to know why they where trying to get into his apartment. Stefan started laughing. He laughed and laughed.
Although they were very embarrassed, they like the sense of humour.
When I got home I made everyone some Timmies, and they agreed it is some of the best coffee they have ever had.
