Know someone special?

Taken right from the site: World Women in Iceland – a book about the contribution of immigrant women in Iceland. Take part in nominating women of foreign origin that have contributed to Icelandic society. The project World Women in Iceland (working title) aims to make the contribution of immigrant women to Icelandic culture and society more visible. It will result in the publication of a book of interviews with immigrant women in Iceland. A photographic exhibition will also be put up and a website. The project is organised by a group of women of Icelandic and foreign origin in cooperation with The Women´s Story Circle; Letetia Jónsson, Ania Wozniczka, Kristín Viðarsdóttir and Kristín R. Vilhjálmsdóttir. The contribution of the numerous women who, for various reasons, have chosen to make Iceland their home is priceless. Women of foreign origin living in Iceland enrich Icelandic culture and society. By making their contribution visible and celebrating it, we want to strengthen multiculturalism in Iceland and at the same time the identity of immigrant women. Would you like to participate in creating this important book? You can nominate immigrant women living in Iceland whose stories you think should be told by filling out this applicaion (word, 41kb) and sending a proposal to heimsinskonur@gmail.com no later than on 31st of March. The project has received grants from The Reykjavik Human Rights Office, Hlaðvarpinn, Reykjavik UNESCO City of Literature.
