Counting People

I got this great job working on the bus last night. It was only temporary though, so not reliable, but it was fun.

I got to sit and count how many people got on an off the bus at each stop.

And it paid really well.

And I got to talk to all the bus drivers!

The bad news is that they are cutting back the bus service more. One driver told me that starting June 1 the buses would only run every half hour during the day.

An Update

On Kasper's school.
Since Kasper started school in August he has been bullied by another boy in his class. After a lot of problems, solutions seemed to come forward and I thought things were under control. After all Kasper has not said anything about it since January. But I guess the only thing that has actually changed is that Kasper will not tell anyone what is going on. He actually talked top me yesterday and I wrote a letter to his teacher (with some help), sent copies about and Inga wrote to Child Services about it. It is time this problem was fixed.

The bully at Innes.
This crazy Icelander who felt it was necessary to yell at me on a regular basis, about how the floor in the warehouse area was never clean enough, is gone! I am told they fired him yesterday. Ha Ha Ha. No need to feel bad for him, he gets three months pay and they do not want him to come in to work. I do not think I was the only one being treated badly by this guy.

The weather.
It is disgusting outside, but it is getting bright out and this makes me so happy. When I wake up in the morning, it is light. The kids do not want to go to bed because it is still light when they should be sleeping. This is how I know summer is coming. Even if it never really gets hot out, I still look forward to OK weather, a little less wind and the sun.

303

The most latest count of spam is 303 messages since March first.
And it is only the 17th!

Why should we recycle?

This is the tittle of a book Kasper has. He really likes recycling. I admit I could be doing a much better job of it, but I am a little lazy.

There is no collection for recycling, so you must collect it, sort it and bring it in yourself.

It is the collecting that is causing me problems. My apartment is much to small to have bins of recyclables waiting to be taken in.

We would like to have the blue bag system, like in Edmonton, started here.

Kasper thinks that the government here does not understand recycling. He thinks it is because they have not read the Why Should We Recycle book, and this must be because it is in English. We told him they probably could read English, but he would like to have a copy translated anyways and sent over.

He really feels it would make a difference.

If there was a blue bag system, or even bins like the garbage ones for milk cartons , paper and plastic, I would be a better person and recycle more.

I think a lot of people would. Or maybe not, it is hard to say.

Labour Shortages

And I thought that when a 12 year old were working it was called child labour. I thought this was only in China or India, but there it is in Alberta.

Maybe if the restaurants paid more then seven dollars an hour, they could keep staff.

This does not make me homesick.

Collecting Spam

I stopped emptying my spam folder in email on the first of this month. I am collecting them to see how many I an get before Gmail starts deleting them for me.

They delete messages that are thirty days old.

Anyways, it is the 12Th and I already have 256 messages. It is good to know someone sends all that time to email me.

I get one real email every three or four days, but I get more then twenty a day offering me things I do not really need. It is the thought that count.

Worst Restaurant Ever

The worst restaurant ever would be British food, with Swedish service, sold at Icelandic prices.

So I have been told by someone who has lived and worked in all three places as a chef.

Power Lines

These are the power lines to transport the electricity made in that town. They are huge. I would have gotten better pictures but it was during a storm and I would not leave the car.

Hveragerði

This is the town the party was in. This is where they have a lot of hot water to make the electricity.

More hotel shots

Here you see Davið having so much fun during the dinner that is he playing Snake on the cell phone

Here is the beer sampling contests

The main course, lamb, potato's, vegetable's, salad and wine.

Some rough looking co-workers the next morning.

Some really strange carpet

The appetizer, bread, shrimp and mushroom soup, and wine

Even more scary carpet

And a light that shines. Looks like it belongs in a movie.

A hotel stay!

Saturday night Davið's work had a staff party out of town so we all got a hotel room for the night. It was great. It was great, free dinner, free wine and drinks, free hotel room, presents (we got a gift card for the gas station), free breakfast the next day, and the best part of all was the bath tub. I had 5 bathes in less then 24 hours. I think I am set for a while now and can live with just showers for another year.

An elevator with carpet going up the walls is just creepy.

Breakfast....

breakfast.....

and more breakfast!!! It was great, and I was full.

What a great bed, 2 singles pushed together! We even had our own blankets. Maybe not every couple is happy when going to a hotel, they might need to be separated.

We had a desk,

a bathroom, and

a tub!!!!

I think this fire hose looks a little outdated....

Some family shots

Kasper spent most of the weekend with his friend, so I did not get one of him.
